Penn State Opens Season at Pitt Saturday

STATE COLLEGE, Pa. - The Penn State Men’s Club Lacrosse team opens its 2023 campaign with a road trip to MCLA rival Pitt on Saturday afternoon. First faceoff is slated for 2:00 p.m. and the game will be streamed on YouTube.

SERIES HISTORY

  • This will be the fourth all-time matchup between the Nittany Lions and the Panthers. Penn State currently leads the series 2-1, but Pitt claimed the latest victory during the preseason 2022 Keystone Classic. All three games have been decided by two goals or less.

  • This game marks the first-ever regular season matchup between Penn State and Pitt. All previous games were played in the preseason.

INTERLEAGUE SUCCESSES

  • Penn State opened last season at NCAA Division III Juniata College and claimed a commanding 17-6 victory. This was the first game played and first victory for an NCLL team over an NCAA squad.

  • Penn State is 5-1 against MCLA programs. The last victory over an MCLA opponent was against Temple at the preseason 2022 Keystone Classic. Penn State is 1-0 against MCLA programs in the regular season, claiming victory over Boston College in the 2022 MF Memorial Tournament hosted at Villanova. All games against MCLA teams have been played in the past two years.
